With the exception of a wedding reception, the Head Table process in seating order is from left to right as viewed from the main body of the hall. The Toastmaster calls the assembly to stand and greet the Head Table. The procession enters from the right led by the Toastmaster. On arriving at the centre of the table, the Toastmaster steps to one side to allow the guests to stand behind their chairs. The Toastmaster then calls upon a pre-named person to say, "The Grace." He raps a single gavel and assists the Guest of Honour to seat.
At a wedding, the Head Table guests except for the "Bride and Groom" who take their places without due form. After making sure that all assembled are in their seats, the Toastmaster calls the assembly to stand to welcome the principal guests "The Bride and Groom." He will then lead the bridal couple to their places at the Head Table. When in place and before seating, he will call upon a pre-named person to say, "The Grace." After a single gavel rap, all will be seated. The Toastmaster assists the Bride to seat as she may have trouble with her train or very full-skirted dress.
